I really don’t like putting my 2 cents into anything involving shitxue but this is something that needs to be said since I am really disturbed by some things this person is saying.

First, I am a PoC. I’m not a huge SJW but I have experienced racial remarks and prejudice all my life.  I agree with Shitxue on one thing : Hating on some one for the color of their skin whether they be whit, black, purple sucks. Some people take the white privilege thing to far and start labeling people as white scum. This is not okay and it sucks. However, lets remember that these are poor examples to draw on when you are talking about PoC, because despite rants, and blogs dedicated to the issue - we are just that. Peaceful people just trying to tell our stories and pointing out the truth - trying to level out society so its fair. Any intelligent, PoC worth speaking with on this issue knows nobody is aiming to punish white people and make them our bitches treating them like 2nd class citizens. You do not fight racism with racism - that is just common sense. 

That being said, I just want to enlighten shitxue on one thing. They feel like because white people can’t participate in voice their opinions the whole PoC blogging complex is racist. No. Just… no. Remember the whole bindi drama earlier this year? Costfu specifically never voiced our opinions on the issue because we were not apart of that culture, we did not have vast knowledge on the hindu religion, and as a non hindus it is not our place to voice about experiencing discrimination for wearing bindis because we have never experienced that. This is what white people need to do. You can experience things like people saying you’re ugly because your white, and yeah that sucks, but this is trivial compared to issues faced by PoC and I’ll talk about that later.

Lets compare how one race can effect the other in - ya know real life. Lets say I said white people are crazy. That would hurt your feelings, but overall that opinion would not keep you from getting a job, making friends, getting into school. It would not be a stereotype. Even if I used popular white stereotypes like “white people can’t dance”. Will that keep you from getting a job? No. Nobody is going to yell at you on the street saying that.

Now we have a white person saying A Puerto Rican will steal from you. Do you know how many side eyes I get walking into a store. Its very uncomfortable. Thats just one thing I go through on a day to day basis. I get called a mexican. Its not that I have a problem with mexicans but in the generic white kid from my towns eye’s : that means I’m scum, I don’t belong, I’m dirty etc. I even deal with these issues at my workplace though not personally but the prejudice towards my people still bothers me. Just like me they get followed about, my coworkers think they’re plotting a steal because they’re speaking spanish, they’re apparently more annoying    then a white couple at closing time when they stay til 9:35 and the couples just walking out the door at 9:45 returning shit. Oh and HOW DARE my grandmother for coming to this country for a better life, its so not inspirational like all the western white immigrants that have been welcomed. All this shit gets said right in front of me and even if I said “Hey, you know we’re all not like that.” all that will do is make my white coworkers “walk on eggshells” and they’ll just keep thinking ~mexicans~ are americas biggest threat. That, shitxue, is a damaging opinion. This is what discrimination actually is. Its more then people ignoring a white persons input about discrimination and all we go through. Would you listen to someone talk about something they know nothing about?

From reading some PoC blogs, I’ve noticed a few things. There will always be that one white person who says “Oh but its not fair - if they can talk about this I can too. If they can say this slur then I can. Thats what equality is”. No, it is not. White people have more of a social advantage in the real world, and being ignored by a PoC online when you’re trying to tell THEM about discrimination and equality is just ironic. 

Another example. My mother quit her job a few months ago for pretty much the same things I’ve been through - but to the extreme. She was the only PoC at her job and they started making those damn mexican jokes. But unlike my situation they did it to test her. You know the whole thing when some one has a black friend so they think it gives them a right to make fun of them because they are totes not racist? This happened. It started with a few small remarks my mom just passed off as whatevers. Then it was a constant thing. “Mexican jokes” constantly and got directed towards her. She loved working at her job for the past 8 years but this made her hate it, and she quit because it was making her depressed.

Heres the best part. When my mother spoke with her boss about resigning this is what he said (along these lines) ” Oh they’re just joking. You don’t have to get all uptight” Wanda, are you sure you are even spanish? You could be indian and never know”. What. the. fuck. He knows my mother was adopted. He knew she didn’t know much about her mother and hasn’t seen her since she was 9. This is how her former employer had dealt with hate speech in the workplace. She came to me hysterically crying. She needed to make money but there was no way she could go back there and honestly I was seriously thinking of throwing a brick through his window - but we’re better people then that. He just lost the women who locked up and opened his store for years and the employees go unpunished - their actions justified by my mother being adopted and the .1% of her not being hispanic at all. 

That is something I’m willing to bet my earnings on that you, as a white person have not and will never experience. Thats the kind of shit that happens to us. On the internet and on some blogs it might seem at times white people have the short end of the stick, but really shitxue? White people have the control where it counts and that is the issue at hand - not some fucking petty tumblr community where when you leave the computer it does nothing to you.

Don’t take this the wrong way because I am not trying to take all my built up anger on you, but I really don’t think you really know what you’re talking about. You may have an idea, but you just don’t know. You comparing a white persons input being ignored is like kiki comparing her bullying to the holocaust. There is no comparison. You can go ahead and keep believing what you want on what is and isn’t fair thats fine - but fishing for oppression online is not at all fair to us. Keep that in mind. 

 I appreciate you looking into these kind of issues and trying to understand it, but please just be an observer and try to learn. Show a friend some good/just PoC blogs if you really want to help.
